Sipho Nyembe served as a General Manager of Football Club reporting to the Managing Director and the Board of Directors. The duties included among others:

  • Development and implementation of financial systems and controls
  • Develop and monitor budgets ensuring that they are in line with objectives and business plans of the Club
  • Produce monthly management accounts, quarterly reports and provide financial input for
  • negotiating players’ contracts
  • Management and maintenance of the working capital, fixed assets, payroll function and all the statutory requirements
  • Development and implementation of the marketing and branding plan, manage the sponsor and other stakeholder relations
Prior to the above position Mr. Nyembe served as a Finance and Marketing of a Stadium and was responsible for all the financial functions of the stadium together with the marketing and branding of the stadium. The financial aspect of the role included among others:
  • Planning and Budgeting in line with the business plans and strategy of the company,
  • Cash flow management, payroll function and events management.
  • Cordinate and liaise with external auditors in preparation and execution of the year-end audit
Sipho before he joined the Stadium he was an Assistant Manager in the Corporate Finance Management department of Spoornet where he was responsible for the following :
  • Poviding detailed analysis of revenue and expenses on monthly basis and the compilation variance report
  • Generating and interpreting monthly management reports
  • Compiling Budget guidelines using the Key Control Methodology and facilitating knowledge alignment/training workshops on the guidelines
Sipho also acquired experience in different industries through work or engagements in other companies
  • Retail experience gained working as a manager of Supermarket and Bakery Superette in Mooi River KZN which had three smaller outlets in the township. The duties included staff management, payroll, bookkeeping, stocktaking, procurement and statutory compliance
  • Auditing experience was acquired during the auditing clerkship/trainee accountant with Kessel Feinstein now known as Grant Thornton International. In performing statutory audits the following was accomplished: planning, controlling and recording of audit work; assessing accounting systems adequacy; documentation and evaluating internal control systems; testing internal controls, financial systems review, application of auditing guidelines and standards; compliance with requirements of regulatory bodies and the drafting of audit reports and other similar reports.
  • Sipho also acquired experience in the insurance industry whilst employed by Price Forbes Brokers as a Creditors Clerk and duties were mainly reconciliation for brokers and creditors payments.
